KGS moved into a new building in 2022 located at 1704 S. Baehr Street in Wichita. All are welcome to visit and see the new layout.
The Kansas Geological Society Library has the most complete collection of oil and gas well data for the State of Kansas and surrounding areas. Geologic reports, electric logs, LAS files, drill stem tests, well logs and other documents have been donated by industry since 1923.
Robert F. Walters Digital Geological Library has 2,944,293 digital well logs and documents. See the count by county.
The Kansas Geological Foundation was founded in March of 1989 as a not-for-profit corporation under the guidelines of section 501(c)(3) of the federal tax code.
The KGF provides a variety of educational benefits to the public. The Kansas Geological Foundation has a collection of tapes and CD's available on a variety of subjects dealing with earth sciences.
Another way the Kansas Geological Foundation attempts to encourage individuals to pursue the study of earth sciences is by providing Student Financial Assistance. Students who demonstrate an enthusiasm for the field of earth sciences may apply for a scholarship funded by the KGF.
The Kansas Oil Museum is located at 383 E. Central in ElDorado, Kansas, and features indoor and outdoor displays of equipment and lifestyle items used over the last 100+ years in the giant ElDorado Oil Field.
There is a continuous Speaker Series at the Museum with live music and food trucks through the summer months. Check the web page for upcoming events.
The Energy Education Center venue opened in 2023 at the Kansas Oil Museum. This building will add to the Museum experience by making a space for interactive STEM activities that look to the future while honoring the Museum’s mission to preserve the history of the oil industry.
Kansas Crossroads is an excellent documentary series developed through the museum with episodes about the people and businesses in the region.
The Butler County Genealogy Society is based at the KOM.
